Abstract

Gender equality is a phrase (term) is often pronounced by social activists, feminists, politicians and even almost by state officials. The term gender equality in the level of praxis is almost always interpreted as a condition of inequality experienced by women. Gender equality can also mean similarity conditions for men and women as well as the opportunity to obtain their rights as human beings, to be able to contribute and participate in the political, legal, economic, social, cultural, educational, defense and national security as well as similarities to benefit the development. The realizations of gender equality is characterized by the absence of discrimination between women and men and thus between women and men have access to, and control over the opportunity to participate and benefit from the development of equitable and fair share of development. Socialization of gender equality can not be separated itself from the concerns of both women and men. An understanding of gender equality will bring great wisdom on women's issues in synergizing with more systematic. As for men will help in understanding and anticipate potential shifts in the future role of women in the context of a more equitable based on human rights and democratic principles.
